End of drafts. Transfer cart stocks material quickly and without heat loss

Our transfer cart has sped up the stocking process, minimized employee effort, and ensured greater thermal comfort for them. Additionally, it can be expanded into an automatic warehouse.

Stocking materials was exhausting and provisional solutions caused drafts

For the company Romotop, we developed a special transfer cart. Romotop is the leading manufacturer of fireplace stoves and inserts needed to replace an unsatisfactory provisional solution that involved bringing materials through an opening in the hall’s outer shell. This opening was covered only by a hinged door, leading to drafts and heat escaping from the hall. The original method negatively impacted both the thermal comfort of employees and the stocking process, complicating it significantly. Both problems were immediately solved by our modern transport platform.

We developed a transfer cart with an ergonomic height, making handling easier and minimizing employee strain. Stocking heavy materials from the exterior warehouse into the production hall is now significantly faster and more convenient.

The transfer cart also handled the height difference between the hall and the outdoor warehouse

An outdoor loading position for the cart was supplemented with a shelter, allowing the transport platform to move between two rolling shutter doors. The inner door is located at the original opening in the hall’s shell, while the second door closes off the outdoor shelter. During the cart’s movement, one of the doors is always closed, preventing heat loss even during material loading. The new solution also had to overcome the height difference between the indoor production hall and the outdoor warehouse. Therefore, we designed a steel structure that smoothly transitions to the hall floor thanks to height rectification.

How does our device work in practice?

The outdoor warehouse operator places the heavy material onto the transfer cart using a forklift with vertical lift and confirms everything on the control panel. At that moment, the outdoor shelter door closes to minimize drafts. A signal on the indoor panel of the production hall lights up, confirming that the material is successfully stocked, and the operator calls the transfer cart by pressing a button. The inner door opens, and after the material is moved to its final position, it closes again. Thus, no heat escapes even at this stage. Finally, the operator uses a sling and crane to remove the heavy material and sends the cart back to the outdoor shelter with a button press, where it waits for the next cycle.

The transfer cart can easily be expanded into an automatic warehouse

The upper structure of the cart consists of a removable basket, which can be handled by an automatic storage and retrieval system, and the lower structure is designed to accommodate load cell sensors for weighing the current stock and removed amounts if needed.

  • a transfer cart in the foundry that accelerated operations, reduced dust and emissions,
  • a rail-free transfer cart that rotates around its axis.
